How Homeroom works
The base layer
Name, address, grade band and program type come from CPS.edu directly. Community members can't change these.
The community layer
Bell times, before care, aftercare, and their costs, and whether there's a library, art, music, PE, drama, Spanish or a maker space. Any signed-in user can add or update these. Anything written into an open field is reviewed by an admin before it publishes, so submissions stay focused on programs and environment - not naming individuals and not rating the school.
Dated, not guessed
Every community fact shows who added it - parent or verified CPS staff - and an “as of” date. Anyone signed in can confirm a fact is still accurate, which refreshes the date and raises the confirmation count.
Verified staff
School staff status is granted automatically to accounts with a @cps.edu email address.
Beta scope
Right now, Homeroom supports Elementary school search only - focused on kindergarten. High School and Pre-K are on the roadmap for 2027.
